How to Read Faster and Remember Everything You Read?

By Smith

One of the biggest problems of most average speed readers is the fact that even if they are able to process a lot of words per minute, they completely forget everything when they reach the end of the sentence, phrase, paragraph or text itself. Is there anything you can do in order to avoid such a failure? Yes! You have to be able to find, read, comprehend and remember the main idea, not all the unimportant details that might be presented. In this post I’ll talk about how speed reading pros do it and if you want, you can try it yourself. Now you have the chance to read at least three times faster without forgetting anything! If you want o see a certain progress in your abilities to read faster and comprehend high volumes of information eve better you have to pay a closer attention to the technique called scanning the keywords and extracting the main idea. One of the bad habits that people are dealing with is actually reading all the words in a certain text. It takes a lot of time; it is disturbing and doesn’t offer any real relevant information about the main subject. If you want more rational answers you need to work with keywords.

It’s all about extracting the main idea from the text
One of the fastest ways of dealing with any volume of texts fast and easy and being able to remember the main idea is actually writing resumes for each one while getting rid of all the unnecessary details which are usually formed by either adverbs or adjectives. After writing a resume, you need to extract the main idea and here you are – speed reading deciphered. Nevertheless, we train to read faster in order to be able to do this without actually working hard. You want to be able to figure out what the main idea of a certain paragraph or text it without reading it word by word. This is one of the highest possible levels achieved by those who are fond of speed reading and who would like to spend some time with their family and not in from of boring papers. It takes a lot of time, it is not easy, but you will see that it is a investment for the future. So, it’s all about getting the main idea on paper and being able to keep it in your mind for any possible future references. This will help remember the essence.

Create mind tags
When you create mind tags, you are giving birth to short and relatively unimportant associations between the main idea of the text that you just read and the world that surrounds you. So, an example would be a speed racing car and a the main idea of this article which is how to read faster. However, this is rather advanced and I guess that most beginners out there will have quite a difficult time trying to understand it. Nevertheless, in such a way you will self program your mind not to easily forget the important ideas from either paragraphs or even full texts or stories. It is like setting anchors or bold-ing words and ideas in a page when you are writing things. See, I already found an association for the idea that I was just trying to expose. Exactly the same technique can be used when practicing your speed reading and constantly improving your progress. Skipping certain words doesn’t mean that you won’t understand the text. Does this make logical sense to you? To me, it does, that’s why I teach people how to read faster and better manage their valuable time, especially now, when facing the informational wave of the 21st century A.D. Remember, creating mind tags equals thinking about things that could remind you of something.

Forgetting is natural

I understand that sometimes it might not be quite pleasant to lose a very simple idea and concept in your mind even after you proof read a small text, but it happens. You have to realize that while speed reading is a great technique to be used while you are still young and in full powers, your potential will constantly decrease the moment you age. Forgetting is what makes us human beings and not robots. If our mind wouldn’t have had the possibility and the function to forget, I guess it would explode. The levels of information that it gathers are the most important. Sometimes, our subconscious mind knows better what is important and what is not. Even if teachers used to tell us that knowing complicated equations with variables is pretty important for us in life, we already forgot how to do it and remember only things that we use on a daily basis. There are too many important things in life for us to pay attention to and if we bother our main archive with unnecessary information we won’t manage to let our mind process what really matters.

Not everything that you read deserves to be kept in your mind
Being able to read faster is cool and I support the idea of speed reading in general. However, sometimes it is necessary to just stay away from bunch of unwanted and stupid information like millions of reports and news that invade our lives on a daily basis. Even if reading faster helps you get rid of all the unnecessary details and keep the main idea in your mind, sometimes it is not even required to do this on automation. Why the heck do you need to remember what happened yesterday on some kind of island if it has no connection with your current life and concerns. I never said that world news aren’t important. They are, but speed reading is also crucial and will help you be able to make the difference of what needs to be read and what not, by offering you to save full hours of hard work.

Your ability to read faster will increase the potential of your mind and improve your level of concentration. Once you know how to read faster, you are able to study anything in this world several times faster than most of the human beings. However, even if you have the skills, this doesn’t mean that you don’t have to work on improving them. Practice self improvement and always seek to be able to read even faster, at least while you are young and can face it! You need to start working with text and assimilate what is really important only by flying with the eyes over them! Would you like to be this good at reading faster?
